1st Grade Curriculum Extension Units
The Art of Language unit will run every Wednesday from 1:15 to 2:00 starting on Nov. 6th. It will end on Feb. 19th. This unit explores the connections between art and literature. Students will keep a sketchbook of their work.

Authenticity - The Essential Questions are How do we determine authenticity? How is authenticity relevant to a writer of historical fiction?
This unit is designed to coalesce with Social Studies curriculum during the first quarter. Many of the social studies objectives are met through study historical fiction. Johnny Tremain, Give Us Liberty, and other readings are used to study the "facts within the fiction," and to establisha timeline of events leading up to the American Revolution.
